Research Associate
Novak Malešević was born on March 23, 1988 in Sarajevo. He graduated in 2010 from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, department of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory. He obtained his MA degree in October, 2011, with the thesis Structure, sign, meaning, Shakespeare – (De)construction of the structure of a linguistic sign and determining the domain of meaning formed in the given structure. He obtained his PhD degree in November, 2019 at the same faculty and department, with the thesis Theory of deconstruction and the affirmation of nihilism in the novel Demons by F. M. Dostoevsky. He is currently employed at the Institute for Literature and Arts in Belgrade as a research associate and is simultaneously attending PhD studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade, where he is working on his doctoral dissertation in the field of philosophy of psychoanalysis, titled The analysis of the structure between a subject and ideology in the context of Lacan’s psychoanalysis.
On several occasions, he visited the institutes abroad. Throughout 2012, he worked at Huygens Institute for Netherlands History on international data base “Women writers”, while in July and August in 2013, he attended interdisciplinary academic program organized by Institute of Linguistics, Cognition and Culture in St. Petersburg. During his doctoral advancement, he visited University of Innsbruck, Institute of Languages and Literatures in Innsbruck, Austria on two occasions.
In the period from 2012 to 2015, at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, he collaborated on the project “Theory and history of women’s writing in Serbian until 1915”, while at the same time, at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade, he participated, as a researcher, in the project “Dynamic Systems in Nature and Society: Philosophical and Empirical Aspects”.
Throughout his education so far, Malešević has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, both nationally and internationally: “Robert Boš”, Department for social activities of the city of Bijeljina, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Belgrade, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, as well as SYLFF (The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund), OеAD (Österreichische Austauschdienst) and CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies).
In 2011, Malešević was a co-founder of the Journal of social sciences, culture and arts – CASCA, first as the deputy editor-in-chief (2011-2014), and then as the editor-in-chief (2015–2016).
